Remarkable Inter-School Debate Competition hosted by G.D. Goenka International School, Surat

Surat, Gujarat : Beating the odds and soaring high above the deterring circumstances, once again the city school, GD Goenka International, Surat has marked its evident presence in the field of online teaching and learning platforms.

The school had organized an Inter School Debate Competition on Consumer Rights, on the topic ‘Consumer Protection Act has adverse impact on E-Business/ E-Commerce?’ virtually through the online platform. The purpose of this debate competition was to make students aware about the consumer rights and the new amendments in the Consumer Protection Act.  The competition comprised of seven different schools in the city.

The two hour long programme was enlightened by the words of wisdom initiated by Principal GDGIS Dr Moupali Mittra. Followed by a few moments of prayer were the rules and guidelines for the competition disclosed.

An active participation could be witnessed from the schools like Essar International, GD Goenka International Surat, SBR Maheshwari Vidyapeeth School, Mount Litera Zee school, Shanti Asiatic School ,Sri Sri Ravishankar School and Vashistha Vidhyalaya.

The tough competition was judged by an eminent panel of Jury which included Mr. Sanjay Punjabi; the founder president of TIE Surat, Mr. Anup K Agarwal; a practicing Chartered Accountant and founder of M/S Anup K Agarwal and Associates and Mr. Ambrish Upadhyay; faculty member Humanities at GDGIS. All the jury members congratulated the participants for their amazing performance and shared some of their insights on the topic. Mr. Sanjay Punjabi discussed about the council of Consumer rights and their work, C.A. Anup Agarwal discussed about various rights and responsibilities of the consumers while Mr. Ambrish Udahyay discussed on the emphasis of students’ knowledge on such issues as they are future of our country. Dr. Surender Singh Pundir, Head of the Department Commerce, Enlighted us with some real life examples of consumer rights in ‘Expert’s insights’. The conversant debate competition was graced by honorable Principles of the participating distinguished schools. To boost the morale and to encourage the participation of students in such activities, pearls of innate wisdom were shared by Ms. Sunita Matoo; Principal at Essar International School. She also congratulated G.D. GOENKA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL for laying a wonderful platform for the young learners.

Following were the winners of the Debate competition:

‘For the motion’ winners were – Third Position was secured by Chaavi Chandak, from Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, second position was secured by Nishti Parekh from Mount Litera Zee School and the first position was garnered by Pranjal Patel from S.B.R. Maheshwari Vidyapeeth.
Similarly ‘Against the motion’ winners were Dinky Amdavadi from G.D. Goenka International school at third position, Sneha Gupta from Vashistha Vidyalaya at second position and Vishwa Raval from Shanti Asiatic school secured first position. Also the best teams was Mount Litera Zee School & SBR Maheshwari Vidhyapeeth.
